Product Introduction:
A variety of different types of pigments are often present in tissues during immunohistochemistry or routine staining. Melanin is one of these, and is most often found in the eyes or in the melanocytes of the skin. Melanin is stable in nature, not easily removed, and usually appears yellow on tissue sections. It can easily lead to blurring of cell outlines, or confuse the results with DAB staining, or influence the judgment of results during special staining.
Traditional methods of removing melanin from sections include picric acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc. However, the above methods may lead to deslaboration or affect the subsequent staining process. The Soluble Melanin Removal Kit is less damaging to the tissue and leaves less pigment residue than the above methods. It is suitable for routine or immunohistochemical staining of paraffin and frozen sections.
