Alizarin red S, a anthraquinone derivative, is a sodium salt of alizarin sulfonate, which can be chelated with calcium salts in calcium carbonate or calcium phosphate to form orange-red complexes, suitable for calcium salt deposition staining of tissue sections and cultured cells. In order to facilitate the analysis of calcium salt content and concentration, alizarin red S staining can be completely eluted with CPC reagent, and the eluted solution is placed in a 96-well plate, and the calcium salt content is semi-quantitatively analyzed by measuring OD value at 560nm.
The kit consists of a stain solution, a standard solution and an eluent and is suitable for the extraction and determination of alizarin red S staining in cell and tissue samples.
