Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a characteristic component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. LPS and its lipid A portion stimulate cells of the innate immune system through Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), a member of a family of toll-like receptor proteins that recognize common pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). The product is trichloroacetic acid extracted from E. coli O26: B6 serotype. The source strain was ATCC12795.
