Product Introduction:
Biochemical testing of bacteria (also known as biochemical reactions) refers to the process of measuring the metabolic products produced by different bacteria due to their respective enzyme systems and varying ability to decompose substrates. The indole test is a typical metabolic test for amino acids and proteins. The principle is that certain bacteria with tryptophan enzymes can decompose tryptophan in peptone water to produce indole (indigo matrix), which combines with p-diphenylaminoformaldehyde to form the red compound rose indole.
The effective ingredient of Ehrlich Reagent is p-diphenylaminoformaldehyde. When Ehrlich Reagent is added, a red color is generated, indicating a positive indole test. If there is no color change, indicating a negative indole test. The Ehrlich Reagent is particularly suitable for the identification of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, non fermenting bacteria, foster bacteria, and anaerobic bacteria.
