D-sorbitol for biochemical research; Acid-base titration of boric acid; Manufacturing sorbic acid, ascorbic acid and propylene glycol; Synthetic plasticizers and resins; Separation and analysis of low boiling oxygen compounds, amines, nitrogen and oxygen heterocycles.
Product features:
Sorbitol, also known as sorbitol, hexanol, D-sorbitol, is a non-volatile polysugar alcohol, chemically stable, not easy to be oxidized by air, easily soluble in water, hot ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, butanol, cyclohexanol, phenol, acetone, acetic acid and dimethylformamide, widely distributed in nature plant fruits, not easy to be fermented by various microorganisms. It was originally isolated from mountain strawberry by Boussingault et al., France. The PH value of the saturated aqueous solution is 6 ~ 7, and it is isomerization with mannitol, tylool, and galitol. It has a cool sweet taste, with a sweetness of 65% of sucrose and a very low caloric value. With good moisture absorption, it has a very wide range of functions in food, daily chemical, medicine and other industries. It can be used in food to prevent food drying, aging, prolong the shelf life of products, and can effectively prevent the crystallization of sugar and salt in food, maintain the strength balance of sweet, acid and bitter and increase the flavor of food. It can be prepared by heating and pressure hydrogenation of glucose in the presence of nickel catalyst.
Field of application:
1. Daily chemical industry
Sorbitol can be used as excipient, moisturizer and antifreeze in toothpaste, and the added amount can reach 25 ~ 30%, which can keep the paste lubricated, good color and taste. As an anti-drying agent in cosmetics (instead of glycerin), it can enhance the extensibility and lubricity of the emulsifier, and is suitable for long-term storage; Sorbitol anhydride fatty acid ester and its ethylene oxide addition have the advantage of less skin irritation and are widely used in the cosmetic industry.
2. Food industry
Adding sorbitol to food can prevent food from drying and cracking and keep food fresh and soft. It is used in bread cake and has obvious effect.
Sorbitol is less sweet than sucrose and can not be used by some bacteria. Therefore, sorbitol is an important raw material for the production of sugar-free candies and various anti-caries foods. It can also be used as sweetener and nutrition agent for diabetic food because it does not increase blood glucose metabolism.
Sorbitol contains no aldehyde group, is not easily oxidized, and does not produce Maillard reaction with amino acids when heated. It HAS CERTAIN PHYSIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY AND CAN PREVENT THE denaturation OF CAROTENOID, edible fat and protein. Adding this product into concentrated milk can prolong the shelf life and improve the color and aroma of small intestine. It has obvious stable and long-term preservation effect on fish meat sauce. The same is true of preserves.
3. Pharmaceutical industry
Sorbitol can be used as a raw material for vitamin C production. It can also be used as the raw material of syrup, injection and infusion, medicine tablet, as drug dispersant, filler, cryoprotectant, anti-crystallization agent, traditional Chinese medicine stabilizer, wetting agent, capsule plasticizer, sweetener, ointment matrix, etc.
4. Chemical industry
Sorbitol rosin is often used as a raw material for architectural coatings. It can be used as a plasticizer and lubricant in polyvinyl chloride resins and other polymers.
It is complexed with iron, copper, and aluminum ions in alkaline solutions and is used in bleaching and washing in the textile industry.
Sorbitol and propylene oxide as starting materials, can produce polyurethane rigid foam plastics, and has a certain flame retardant property.
