Sodium deoxycholate, with molecular weight of 414.55 and CAS number of 302-95-4, is a commonly used biological reagent.
Sodium deoxycholate is an ionic detergent that can be used to lyse cells and dissolve proteins that are difficult to dissolve in water. It can also be used in bile lysis experiments. The principle is that the surface activity of bile or bile salts can rapidly activate autolysin and accelerate the self-dissolution of bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae. This product contains buffer components, more suitable for bile lysis experiments.
